Welcome back. I’m here to share the story and paint the portrait of the Coppola Cafe, my favorite coffee shop in Manhattan.
I was introduced to the Coppola Cafe by my friend, Shoumick, a New York gem. He and I met at the club, Up & Down, in the summer of 2017. We have stayed friends, and I relentlessly call him for advice; thus, a big shoutout to Shoumick.
Anywho!
The Coppola Cafe sits on West 4th Street at the tail-end of Jones Street. The address is 171 West 4th Street. It is a warm cafe filled with beautiful faces and hard workers, complemented by sweet and savory pastries and delicious coffee. They also have Diet Coke (always a plus). And! They serve alcohol now (i.e. beer and wine). What more could you want in one place?

The Coppola Cafe is a community hub for locals, artists, and students of NYU, among others. The cafe is owned by Gabriele Napoli, a wonderful man with a big heart, and motivating diligence. The cafe is efficiently run by Napoli and his staff, a rotating group of loving coworkers who all bring personality to the Coppola Cafe experience. Throughout the year, the cafe hosts small sessions featuring local musicians including one of the baristas, Alex.
I’ve been going to Coppola Cafe for the last year, and I can’t imagine Manhattan without it. It is a go-to whenever I’m in the city; whether I’m in the Financial District (FiDi) or on the Upper West Side (UWS) or really anywhere in Manhattan, I will ALWAYS make a point to drop by the cafe. It is a simple spot with a robust menu full of savory sandwiches, tasty desserts, and a variety of coffee and teas.
I feel blessed to have found such a special place in the city where I can go to celebrate or mourn or anything in-between with the Coppola Cafe crew. The Coppola Cafe is my home away from home. The team there will welcome you with open arms, just as they did for me. The cream-colored walls that are lined with vibrant tiles, the smell of paninis waft that through the air, the strong Italian accents of the staff that make you want to listen in, and the large windows looking West 4th St. all make for a unique New York cafe, one that you’d be sure to love.
